Committed to Give - Promoting Israeli Philanthropy

We are a group of Israeli social investors who have chosen to work together in order to significantly increase the level of private philanthropy in Israel, and to improve philanthropy’s effectiveness.

We are driven by a sense of responsibility and commitment to the wellbeing and cohesion of Israel’s civil society. The relatively low level of private donations in Israel in comparison to other countries concerns us. We will, therefore, act to create a critical mass of donors and donations, to strengthen and complement the government’s responsibilities, and to create partnerships between philanthropists.

Everyone shares the responsibility but we, the affluent, have the obligation and the ability to invest our money, our experience, our connections and ourselves. We believe it is possible to change the society we live in for the better. Our goal is to change the culture of giving among Israeli individuals who have the resources to donate, so that civil society will be strengthened and society’s gaps narrowed.

Committed to Give - The Initiative for Promoting Philanthropy in Israel was established in late 2010. The group dedicated its time and energy to studying philanthropy in Israel and abroad, as a basis for articulating a long-term process to change the culture of giving among the country’s affluent. The initiative is a collaboration between Sheatufim - The Israel Center for Civil Society and JFN - The Jewish Funders Network. The initiative launched its activities at the March 2012 JFN Conference in Tel Aviv
